Getting started in GTA Online can feel overwhelming if you don’t know where to begin. As a new player, your main goal should be stacking cash fast. Money lets you buy cars, weapons, properties, and unlocks awesome content like heists and missions. This list covers the simplest, quickest, and most fun ways to earn money. Some methods pay better but can be dull, while others are more enjoyable but less lucrative. Choose what suits your style and how you want to play.

1. Shark Cards

If you’ve got real-world cash to spare, buying Shark Cards is the fastest way to get rich in GTA Online. However, once you unlock the Cayo Perico Heist, you won’t need them. If you go this route, bank your money right away—losing it to a mugger would sting bad.

2. Import/Export

Import/Export offers the highest payouts but comes with a steep startup cost. From your CEO terminal, buy high-end vehicles, track them down, and deliver them to a warehouse. It’s straightforward but tough, as NPCs and players can damage or destroy the cars, eating into your profits. Stick to quiet servers and bring friends for backup to make the most money.

3. Trafficking Illegal Goods

With the Finance and Felony DLC, you can get into shady business if you’ve got $1,500,000 to kick things off. Buy a corporate office, hire employees, and use your CEO terminal to steal and store goods in a warehouse. Bigger warehouses lead to bigger payouts when you sell. Run these missions in empty servers, as other players might try to sabotage you.

4. VIP Missions

The Executives and Other Criminals DLC brought VIP and Bodyguard roles that can compete with heists for cash. Grab your friends, hire them as bodyguards, and dive into these missions. It’s not the quickest way to earn, but it’s super fun, and having a good time matters when you’re grinding.

5. The Cayo Perico Heist

This heist is a game-changer because you can do it solo. You’ll need a Kosatka submarine ($2,200,000), which is pricey, but it pays off. A stealth run can earn you at least $1,000,000 per heist, and up to $1,500,000 if you nab the Pink Diamond. The catch? It has a 2.5-hour cooldown and takes a bit to complete.

6. Heists

Heists are a big deal, but you need a high-end apartment ($200,000) to host one. You can join heists at any level, though. The five standard heists give a first-time bonus, making them worth a shot. Later heists, like Doomsday or Diamond Casino, pay better and are more fun to replay. Teamwork and mics are crucial, but payouts get split among the crew.

7. Become a Bodyguard

Getting hired as a Bodyguard for a VIP is a great way to earn over time. It’s fun, especially if your VIP has cool cars to cruise in while you watch their back. You’ll make $5,000 every 15 minutes, plus bonuses from jobs and challenges you do together. If your VIP is driven and knows the game, this can be a steady hustle.

8. Daily Activities

Daily Activities are quick and easy. Hit up G’s Cache at a random spot each day for a solid cash and RP boost. Spinning the Lucky Wheel at the Diamond Casino is even better—you can score cash, chips, clothes, or a vehicle once every 24 hours. These are fast enough to fit into a busy schedule.

9. Daily Objectives

Daily Objectives are three short tasks that pay $25,000 when completed. They’re quick and simple, so make them a daily habit. You can pull in $175,000 a week, with a monthly cap of $1,580,000 (not counting individual task rewards). They’re awesome early on but less worthwhile once you unlock bigger earners.

10. GTA Weekends

Rockstar’s weekly updates often include bonuses like double cash and RP on jobs, races, or deathmatches, typically announced on Fridays. These events are great for grinding money. They also offer discounts on vehicles, properties, or weapons, so wait for a GTA weekend to make big purchases and save some cash.

11. Premium Races

If you’re a skilled driver, Premium Races can bring in serious money, though they’re risky. Added in the Cunning Stunts DLC, these races cost $20,000 to enter and are only available briefly. Everyone gets triple RP, but only first place wins cash—around $100,000. It’s not millions, but for a quick race, it’s a top payout if you’re good.

12. Contact Missions

Story characters like Lamar, Gerald, or Trevor will offer you mission work. These jobs are a reliable way to earn, paying around $18,000-$23,000 per job with a solid team. Choose missions that fit your group size, as some are tough without good gear. With a few friends, this is a strong early-game option.

13. Mug Players

Once you reach level 50, you can call Lamar to send a thief to mug other players, grabbing whatever cash they’re carrying. If you’re lucky, it can net a big payout, but it’s not guaranteed since victims can chase the thief and reclaim their money. Target wealthy players who aren’t paying attention, though most bank their cash.

14. Bank Your Earnings

Always bank your cash immediately after earning it using the Maze Bank app on your in-game phone. Carrying a lot of money makes you a target, and getting mugged after a big mission is the worst. It’s rarer now, but play it safe and stash your earnings.

15. Jobs

Jumping into Jobs like deathmatches, races, or missions is a steady and fun way to make money and RP. The better you perform, the more you earn. Stick around in a lobby after one to keep grinding with a group. Jobs are scattered on the map, but the Quick Jobs menu is the easiest way to start. No startup costs needed.

16. Selling Cars

Selling cars is a simple way to make quick cash, but there’s a 48-minute cooldown between sales. Time it right, and it’s an easy, low-effort method. Mod shops pay about 10% of a car’s retail value, with top payouts around $9,000-$9,500 for cars like the Baller or Felon. Keep an eye out for high-value vehicles like the Modded Sandking, Felon GT, Dubsta, or Sentinel.

17. Collectibles

Collecting items is a low-pressure way to earn as a beginner, though it takes time. There are loads of collectibles, and you can follow a guide to grab them like they’re trading cards. You’ll get decent cash and RP if you collect them all. Signal Jammers are tricky since you need a good air vehicle to destroy them. You’ll also unlock cool skins, like the Space Interloper.

18. Convenience Stores

Robbing stores is a bit risky but can be a fast way to gather early cash, especially with a helicopter or a friend. Flying makes hitting multiple stores quicker and safer. You’ll want to rob every store for an achievement/trophy. After that, you’ll have a nice starting pile, but then switch to better methods.

GTA 5 Makes History on Steam

The latest update has made Grand Theft Auto 5 the first game ever to appear twice in Steam’s top ten most played games at the same time. Let’s dive into what’s new and how it’s breaking records.

A Big Win for PC Players

With the launch of the Enhanced Edition, GTA 5 has once again climbed the charts. This update brings better graphics, improved performance, and exclusive content that was previously only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Unlike console players, who had to pay for the upgrade when it launched in 2022, PC players got it for free if they already owned what’s now called GTA 5 Legacy. This move has helped boost the game’s popularity once again.

GTA 5 Takes Over Steam’s Most Played List

The update split the game into two separate versions:

• GTA 5 Legacy – The original PC version before the update.
• GTA 5 Enhanced – The upgraded version with better visuals and smoother gameplay.

Because of this split, both versions are ranking separately on SteamDB’s most played list, making GTA 5 the only game ever to hold two spots in the top ten at the same time.

• GTA 5 Enhanced – Over 152,000 concurrent players (#7 on Steam).
• GTA 5 Legacy – Over 113,000 concurrent players (#10 on Steam).

Can GTA 5 Enhanced Set More Records?

Even with these massive numbers, the Enhanced Edition still has a long way to go to beat the original version’s all-time Steam record:

• GTA 5 Legacy’s peak – 364,000 concurrent players (April 19, 2015).
• GTA 5 Enhanced’s peak so far – 187,000 concurrent players (March 4, 2024).

With the weekend coming up, the Enhanced Edition might see another big spike in players, possibly setting a new record.

The long-awaited next-gen update for GTA V and GTA Online on PC is finally almost here. As the release date gets closer, Rockstar Games has started letting players download the update early.

Release Date and Free Upgrade

Rockstar Games will officially launch this new version of GTA V on Tuesday, March 4. If you already own GTA V on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, or the Epic Games Store, you can get the update for free.

Pre-Loading is Now Available

If you own GTA V on PC, you can start downloading the update right now. This works the same way as pre-loading Rockstar’s other games or GTA Online updates on PlayStation. Just open your PC game store and begin the download. At the moment, pre-loading is available on the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam.

Download Size and System Requirements

The update is about 90GB in size, so make sure you have enough space on your PC. You will also need an SSD for the best performance. This size is similar to the versions available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, Rockstar has not yet announced exactly when players will be able to start playing the new version on PC.

Two Versions of GTA V on PC

Rockstar has renamed the older version of the game to "GTA V Legacy." The new version is called "GTA V Enhanced." There is no crossplay between these two versions, but Rockstar will continue updating both. Take-Two’s CEO has also mentioned that GTA V and GTA Online will still receive support even after GTA 6 is released.

Save Data Migration

If you’ve played the old version of GTA V on PC, you can transfer your save data to GTA V Enhanced. This means you won’t lose your progress when switching to the new version.

New Features in GTA V Enhanced

The updated version comes with many new improvements. These include better graphics, ray-traced lighting and shadows, and more details in the game world. The update also adds new cars, a subscription service called GTA+, and animals in the open world. There are even more updates that players can look forward to in this version.

Rockstar Games announced that cheating in GTA Online has decreased. They made some updates to the game and noticed other changes in how players behave. They also shared some results and asked players questions in a new survey.

On Monday, a question from Rockstar Games' new survey was reported. It suggests that the next-gen features might come to PC in the next three months. More details about that question can be found here, but it was just one of many in the survey.

Fortunately, well-known GTA content creator Gtamen shared the full survey. He made a video going through it, and as usual, it includes some interesting details. These surveys are sent out from time to time, with the last major one reaching players' inboxes in August.

Rockstar's survey includes many questions, mostly general ones about new content added in the past six months. It gives players a chance to share what they like or dislike about the game. However, some questions stood out as more important.

Cheating Comes to a Halt

First, let's look at a question about the Anti-Cheat system Rockstar added in September:

“We recently introduced BattlEye, an anti-cheat software that helps us identify and take action against cheaters. Since its introduction, we have observed a significant reduction in the level of cheating in GTA Online on PC. Have you noticed the reduction in cheating in GTA Online?”

Some players believe there are fewer cheaters in the PC version of GTA Online, and it's good to have official confirmation. BattlEye quickly disabled many free mod menus, which caused developers to stop working on these cheats.

It's unfortunate that GTA Online no longer works on Linux devices like the Steam Deck, but this seems to be the best choice for most players. Around the same time, Respawn also stopped supporting Linux for Apex Legends. They reported a 33% drop in cheaters after that.

Frauds Caught

One page of the survey mentions that Rockstar launched a ban wave targeting players who obtained money through unfair methods: "There has been a wide-scale removal of accounts with inflated player rank or illegitimate GTA$." The exact timing of this ban wave is not known, though.

Oppressor MkII Nerf

A big problem for GTA Online players over the years has been the Oppressor MkII causing chaos in the skies over Los Santos during sell missions and other activities. Similar to the Anti-Cheat question, Rockstar asked players if they’ve noticed less trouble with the Oppressor.

“We recently decreased the effectiveness of the Oppressor MkII hoverbike and its lock-on missiles in our efforts to balance the vehicles available for players. Since these changes, have you noticed a decrease in the amount of aerial griefing you’ve experienced in GTA Online lobbies?” This suggests they’ve seen a significant drop in the number of Oppressor MkII users causing problems for other players.

Nintendo has finally announced the Switch 2 on Thursday after months of rumors and leaks. There isn’t much information about the new hybrid console yet, but there’s still enough to discuss, especially in connection to Rockstar Games.

The Switch 2, following one of the best-selling consoles ever, is highly anticipated. It might even be one of the most awaited console launches, though not quite as much as GTA 6. With the upgraded hardware expected in the new console and Rockstar’s past support for the original Switch, there’s a good chance we’ll see more Rockstar Games titles on this new system.

Classics Play On Nintendo Switch 2

To start, Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 will support backwards compatibility with both physical and digital Switch games. However, they did mention that “certain” Switch 1 games might not work or be fully compatible with the new console. If Rockstar’s games work without issues, fans will be able to play Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on the Switch 2 from day one.

It’s unclear if playing Switch games on the Switch 2 will automatically improve graphics or performance without updates from developers. If there are improvements, fans might enjoy a stable 30FPS in games like the GTA Trilogy, which occasionally has frame drops. Since the collection received a major update, it already runs much better on the current Switch.

GTA+ support has also been worked on for the Nintendo Switch. This means GTA+ members on current-generation consoles could play games like L.A. Noire, The GTA Trilogy, and Red Dead Redemption on the Switch.

Will GTA 6 Be Launched On Nintendo Switch 2?

When it comes to new releases on the Switch, GTA 6 is almost certainly not an option. The Switch 2 is rumored to have power similar to the PS4, or maybe the PS4 Pro, which isn’t enough to handle Rockstar’s ambitious vision for the game. GTA 6 will first launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and later on PC. A Switch 2 version might only happen if the game is heavily scaled down, but that seems very unlikely.

How about Red Dead Redemption 2 & GTA V Portable?

A more likely Rockstar release for the Switch 2 is Red Dead Redemption 2. Some rumors suggest the game could be available when the console launches. Interestingly, one leaker who mentioned this also predicted the Switch 2 reveal date as January 17th—just a day off from the actual announcement.

It’s not impossible, though. Rockstar insider Tez2 revealed that Rockstar had plans to port Red Dead Redemption 2 to the Switch back in 2019. In fact, the Switch controller is even referenced in the PC version's files. Additionally, in September 2023, Red Dead Redemption 2 was age-rated for the Nintendo Switch in Brazil. Given that the Switch 2’s rumored power is comparable to a PS4, RDR2 seems like a strong candidate for the new console.

Nintendo has scheduled a Switch 2 Direct livestream for April 2nd, where they’ll reveal more about the console and announce new games. While the event will likely focus on Nintendo’s own first-party titles, big third-party games like Red Dead Redemption 2 could make an appearance. The gap between the console’s reveal and the Direct might be to give publishers time to announce their Switch 2 games. Interestingly, Take-Two’s financial report for the last quarter is coming early next month. Announcing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Switch 2 could be a move to please investors.

GTA V, being less demanding than Red Dead 2, is a more likely candidate for the Switch 2. There’s been ongoing speculation about Rockstar potentially bringing GTA V to even the original Switch. In fact, someone tried to port it, but the results were low frame rates, as expected. Given the Switch 2’s more powerful hardware, it’s easier to imagine GTA V running smoothly on the new console.

It seems less likely for several reasons. With GTA 6 almost finished, Rockstar probably won’t want to expand GTA Online to another platform and continue its support. There’s a good chance GTA Online will no longer receive updates after GTA 6is released in 2025. However, Rockstar might release a version of GTA V without the GTA Online part, similar to how they removed Red Dead 1's online mode from PS4, Switch, and PC.

Additionally, GTA V is already the second best-selling game of all time, so there likely won’t be many Switch 2 users who haven’t played it yet. The new console doesn’t have the same 100+ million user base that the original Switch does, which means it may not make as much sense to bring the game to the Switch 2.

Palworld made a big splash when it was released, attracting many fans excited to try its unique concept, which some called "Pokemon with guns." While people have noticed similarities between Palworld and Pokemon, especially in terms of design and gameplay, the Pokemon Company and Nintendo haven't said much about the game until now. Recently, Palworld has found itself facing lawsuits from Nintendo over three specific patents.

One of the patents Nintendo is suing Palworld over involves the game's catching system. In Palworld, players use Pal Spheres to catch Pals by throwing them at the targets. This is claimed to infringe on Nintendo's "killer" Patent No. 7545191, which covers the act of throwing a captured item, like a Poke Ball or Pal Sphere. However, Japanese patent lawyer Ryo Arashida (reported by Nikkei Business and Automaton) points out that a game mod, released eight years before Palworld, used a similar catching mechanic. This could make Nintendo's patent invalid.

Could a GTA 5 Mod Help Save Palworld?

Although it’s not mentioned directly, the timing and description suggest that the mod in question is a Pokemon GO-themed GTA 5 mod released back in 2016. The key thing is that the current patent Nintendo is using in its lawsuit, Patent No. 7545191, is linked to a "parent patent" filed in 2021. This means the 2016 mod came before both patents, which could make the legal case against Palworld less important or even irrelevant.

But the patent mentioned earlier is just one of Palworld's issues. Nintendo has also challenged the game with two other patents: 7493117 and 7528390. The 7493117 patent is related to aiming mechanics in the game, while the 7528390 patent focuses on riding characters. Right now, it's unclear if there are any similar cases that could help Palworld with these two patents.

What will happen to Palworld is still uncertain. The lawsuits are asking for a total of 10 million yen (about $65,000 USD), plus additional late payment damages, from Pocketpair. While this amount could hurt, it wouldn’t necessarily end the game developer. However, Nintendo is also seeking an injunction that would prevent Palworld from being sold in Japan. This could have a much larger impact on the game and the company. Still, if the ban only affects the Japanese market, Pocketpair could likely recover.

YimMenu was a very popular mod menu for GTA V on PC. It was free and open source, letting players do almost anything they wanted, even messing up the game for others.

Players said that using YimMenu could get around the latest security update from Rockstar Games, which added Battle Eye to GTA Online, making it tougher for most people to mod the game. Now, Take-Two Interactive has sent a DMCA notice to the company behind YimMenu, Yimmura, and asked GitHub to remove the mod menu from their site.

According to content creator MorsMutual, the DMCA notice from Take-Two to YimMenu was due to illegally reverse engineering code from the Grand Theft Auto V source code leak in 2022, as well as having other code that belongs to Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games.

The YimMenu website has been taken down as well. When we attempted to access it, our antivirus triggered a warning that said "threat secured." For safety reasons, we won't be linking to it.

On GitHub, a community member shared that he and his friend received a notice giving them one day to delete their YimMenu fork and asked for more information. A member of the YimMenu team responded, saying they are ending the project.

Rockstar Games has finally begun to take the security of GTA V and GTA Online seriously, almost nine years after its release. Since this mod reportedly used illegal GTAV code and could bypass Battle Eye, it was obvious that Take-Two Interactive would go after it.

Grand Theft Auto games have always shown off great technology and are really fun to play. GTA 6 will be amazing when it comes out next Fall. If you remember GTA 3 from 2001, you'll see how Rockstar added little details about how to use the technology of that time.

One small detail in GTA 3 was the litter on the streets. While it might seem simple, the litter was special because it blew in the wind and moved when cars drove by. This kind of attention to detail is typical of Rockstar’s games, showing off their technology. Surprisingly, this feature wasn’t carried over to future games, as the streets in GTA: San Andreas are much cleaner.

There’s a good reason for this, and it’s not just that there are fewer litterbugs in San Andreas compared to Liberty City. Former Rockstar developer Obbe Vermeij has been sharing development secrets about the series recently. He’s explained why GTA 3 didn’t have working planes, why planes kept crashing around CJ in San Andreas, and how the gloomy mood of GTA 4 made him decide to leave the studio.

In a recent tweet, Obbe Vermeij revealed that he wanted to include GTA 3’s moving litter in San Andreas. However, not everyone on the team liked the idea. He didn’t go into much detail about the objections, but he did mention that a major concern was potential rendering problems. The litter used "immediate mode polygons," which could be slow to render.

Vermeij says he ended up "losing the argument" and had to take out the litter from San Andreas. But he found a way to sneak it into Manhunt, Rockstar's famous stealth game from 2003. Since some of the GTA team members were reassigned to Manhunt during its last few months of development, Vermeij used that chance to add the litter code. That's a sneaky trick worth admiring!

GTA: San Andreas was stated to be a major release for its Meta Quest VR headsets in 2021. However, as of now, Meta has confirmed the highly anticipated VR version of GTA: San Andreas is on hold indefinitely. According to a Meta representative, both Rockstar Games and Meta are focusing on other projects. This might be one of the reasons.

This would have been beneficial for both Rockstar and Meta. However, one of the top reasons for the decision to delay is the negative reception of the remastered version of GTA: San Andreas.

The next reason is allegedly because of serious technical problems. The project had trouble meeting the high visual and performance standards needed for VR, partly due to the issues with GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

For these reasons, bringing the iconic open world to VR is truly a complex task. Although there could be potential for future VR versions of GTA: San Andreas or other Rockstar titles, the company currently seems to be focusing on other priorities.

After the latest updates in GTA Online, fans have been discussing how the new vehicles seem to have been “backported” from GTA 6. The first GTA 6 trailer showed many vehicles that were not in GTA V or GTA Online.

Since then, Rockstar Games put those cars in the game. This made fans think Rockstar is bringing GTA 6 cars to GTA V Online. It was a big topic when Bottom Dollar Bounties and The Chop Shop came out. But an expert explained it's actually the opposite.

Monkeypolice188, a GTA community member and 3D artist who creates mods for GTA V and administers the GTA Wiki, used Twitter to show that these claims were not true.

The answer is NO.

The creator points out that it wouldn't make sense for Rockstar to use the new high-quality models in GTA Online. The processes for creating vehicles are different: they first make a car for GTA Online and then improve it for GTA 6. Specifically, significant upgrades are expected for the interiors, as shown in leaked videos before.

Another way to hinder the bail jumper is by using a stun gun. You can get full rewards after transporting them alive to the cops. Don't shoot them down, please! It will cause a huge loss to your bounties. The penalty is applied on both Standard and Most Wanted Bail Jumpers.

Dispatch Work & Extra Money

Apart from daily targets, GTA Online players can take some dispatch work to get extra money. Each dispatch work can give you GTA $25,000, which is a good some of money. Wait for 5 minutes before receiving the next mission after finishing your job.

Will GTA 6 hit PC?

When discussing the possibility of GTA VI being available for PC, and considering its announcement for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick neither confirmed nor denied a PC port. Instead, he emphasized Rockstar's track record of addressing platforms gradually over time.

“Well, the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone,” the CEO announced.

According to a report by Push Square, GTA V and GTA Online will no longer be available on PlayStation Plus starting next month. Subscribers to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium since December have enjoyed complete access to both Story Mode and Online modes without requiring ownership of the game.

Last December, there were 18 titles introduced across various PlayStation Plus tiers, with GTA V being the standout addition. Its arrival closely followed the release of the GTA VI trailer and The Chop Shop update. However, after a 6-month stint, the game is now set to depart from PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions.

Take-Two isn’t solely depending on GTA 5 for revenue. NBA 2K24 has been a major success, selling 9 million copies despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and players. Many complaints focus on the game's intrusive microtransactions, but these have evidently been effective. According to the company, the game "surpassed our expectations, as players responded to our promotions, in-game content strategy, and updates within Seasons."

Not only that, Red Dead Redemption 2 has reached 64 million copies sold since its launch in October 2018. This achievement is notable given that the game has only been available on one console generation, unlike GTA 5, which has spanned three. Such robust sales figures are presumably what help prevent unexpected and unclear studio closures in 2024.
